She wrote "I don't want to meet at an art gallery."
He thought "I'm fed up with meeting women at art galleries. This one is just so different I'd want to meet her even if she wasn't a scientist who performs G&S."
And so our first date came about.
Michael always made a point of reading 'What's New with Phil and Dixie' in the Dragon magazine when he was at university. Phil Foglio and his wife, Kaja, now run Studio Foglio where they deal in their distinctive style of art.
Michael also likes fractals: Maths can be beautiful! Here is a link to The Infinite Fractal Loop - a webring of fractal art.
Having shown that Mathematics can be an art form, here is proof that Physics can be too! Michael found marble-runs fascinating from a very early age and another of those 'on the back burner' projects is carving some more tracks for his wooden marble-run. The Rolling Ball Web shows just what people have done with marble-runs over the years. These Rolling Ball Sculptures by Eddie Boes are a case in point.
Barbara has a good eye with a camera and has taken many pleasing photographs. This rainbow appeared in our shed while we were working on the locomotive so she recorded it.
Michael's second favourite of her photos is this one of some baby swallows. His favourite is one she took at Blists Hill on the day he proposed, but that one doesn't need to be here.
As a way to mark the Millennium, Barbara made a large cross-stitch picture. The basic design came as a kit, but she didn't like all the details in the original design so she made some substitutions.
