The reason Michael bought his first modem (oh so many years ago - it ran at 1200/75 baud) was to play games, specifically the Multi-User Game "MUD II". He has always played them under the name of Conteck. Here is Conteck's story up until he realised there was no room in Avalon for a true healer. Conteck also manifested in "Lap of the Gods" and more recently "Cardea" and "Evarayn". Since getting married he no longer has time to maintain a serious persona in any MUG.
Michael does play computer games too. His current favourites are "Trade Empires" from Frog City and "Railroad Tycoon 2" from Pop Top, but he would also commend "Majesty" from Cyberlore and "Arcanum" from Troika Games. Yes these are all older games, but technical problems with DirectX limit him to games requiring DirectX 7 or before and no 3D programs run on his kit.

Quiz at the Blue Pyramid classifies Michael as the United Nations!
"Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to
completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long
way to go. You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each
other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of
beating each other about the head and torso. Sometimes it works and
sometimes it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result. But
your heart is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York."
